“Fast rather than slow, more rather than less--this flashy 'development' is linked directly to society's impending collapse. It has only served to separate man from nature. Humanity must stop indulging the desire for material possessions and personal gain and move instead toward spiritual awareness. Agriculture must change from large mechanical operations to small farms attached only to life itself. Material life and diet should be given a simple place. If this is done, work becomes pleasant, and spiritual breathing space becomes plentiful.”
― Masanobu Fukuoka, The One-Straw Revolution
The Climate Agrarian is a joint project, created by Aqui Griffin and his partner Amz, dedicated to inspiring others in building stronger relationships with nature through farming and agrarian lifestyles. In 2020 we began our journey, volunteering in social justice activism and urban farming with the amazing people over at Black Star Farmers. Later we decided to be closer to my partner's family, and made the move overseas to live in Thailand. From the wet temperate climate of the PNW to the humid tropics of Southeast Asia, we have continued building connections with some really beautiful communities ranging from permaculture eco-villages to indigenous tribes scattered throughout the country.
We realize the impacts of Climate Change and the Polycrisis are affecting lives everywhere. In developed countries, societal pressures are driving an internal migration to return to simpler lifestyles. Meanwhile the rush of urbanization in developing countries grows along with the impossible task of feeding future generations from depleted soils. All the while, Mother Earth is changing right beneath our feet. This project aims to bring together knowledge of our ancestors and the innovative energy of the present, and sometimes the philosophical, all rooted in a respect to nature, to help us face the challenges that lie ahead.
